Greenwich Millennium Village (GMV) is a pioneering development in terms of its technology, design and location.
It is part of the 121 hectare (303 acre) Greenwich Peninsular, a brownfield site which was formerly home to the largest gasworks in Europe. GMV is the first of the Millennium Communities to be developed under English Partnerships who purchased the site in 1997.
Maurer Court, the third phase of housing to be built at GMV, sits on the north-west corner of the site between the River Thames, a new Ecology Park and John Harrison Way. With stepped elevations, barrel vaulted roofs and colourful panels, Maurer Court is the most boldly modelled phase of GMV to date, creating a riverside landmark. Maurer Court comprises three buildings forming a block which contains a gated courtyard garden. It is a ten minute walk from North Greenwich Station and the Dome.
The residential sections of GMV are built alongside 4500sq.m of new commercial and retail development, 1770sq.m of new community buildings and a yacht club. Nearby there is a 14 screen cinema, a hotel, supermarket and two superstores. A state of the art school and new healthcare facilities on the site were funded by English Partnerships and opened in 2001. Links to surrounding areas include a riverside cycle path, a river transport pier, riverside footpaths and good links to buses, tube and mainline railway stations.
