Icon - Lime Tree Square

Icon - Lime Tree Square is part of the first phase of the 400-home ICON development in Street, a market town of 11,100 residents in Somerset.

Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios was appointed as the architects for Icon - Lime Tree Square. Responding to the Clarks’ family vision and to the planning brief, their concept was to create a sustainable environment that included a range of housing types from apartments to individual houses, set around high quality landscaped spaces, streets and gardens.

Icon - Lime Tree Square offers 138 homes at the southern end of the site, which benefit from close links to the town centre. There are 30 homes for social rent. This is the part of the ICON development built out by Knightstone Housing Association, so it is providing the affordable housing element of the ICON development as a whole.  The entrance to the site from the south leads into a welcoming space described as the “Arrivals Square”, from where the principal spine route leads through the site to the north. Carefully landscaped and planted with lime trees, the square is defined by apartments on the south and east sides and terraced houses on the north and west sides.
