Building for Life awards
Building for Life awards celebrate well-designed housing projects and neighbourhoods in England.
The Building for Life awards celebrate house builders and housing associations that demonstrate a commitment to high design standards, good place making and sustainable development.
Seven outstanding housing schemes won Building for Life Awards in 2009:
- Admiralty Quarter, Portsmouth
- Angel Waterside, Islington, London
- Cross Street South, Wolverhampton
- Granville New Homes, Brent, London
- Lime Tree Square, Street, Somerset
- Norfolk Park Green Homes, Sheffield
- Trinity Watch, St Ives
How do the awards work?
Schemes are entered for Building for Life awards each spring by developers, housing associations and architects. Entries are formally assessed by Building for Life and all those achieving 14 or more will receive either a silver or gold standard. Schemes achieving a Building for Life standard are then put to an independent judging panel which selects exemplary schemes to receive a Building for Life award.
Who can enter the awards?
Anyone can enter a housing scheme for the Building for Life awards – architects, developers, community groups, planners or even members of the public.
