Building for Life awards
Building for Life awards celebrate well-designed housing projects and neighbourhoods in England.
The Building for Life awards celebrate house builders and housing associations that demonstrate a commitment to high design standards, good place making and sustainable development.
Six outstanding housing schemes were given Building for Life awards in November 2008:
- Adelaide Wharf, Hackney, London
- City Point, Brighton
- Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth
- Rostron Brow, Stockport
- Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, London
- Sinclair Building, Sheffield
How do the awards work?
Schemes are entered for Building for Life awards each spring by developers, housing associations and architects.
All entries are formally assessed by Building for Life. The judging panel, chaired by Wayne Hemingway, selects the best schemes for Building for Life awards.
As well giving out the Building for Life awards, all entries that score more than 14/20 in the formal assessment receive a Building for Life standard.
Who can enter the awards?
Entries will open soon for the 2009 awards.
